With so much talk of a “bad economy,” those affected negatively are getting complacent with the way things are going. This is the exact opposite of what should be done yet many find themselves accepting their loss, their disappointment, their frustration. Yes, there are millions who have felt and continue to feel the impact of the so called “recession,” but there are also many others who are thriving and continue to move forward without hesitation.
What’s the secret you ask? Don’t allow others to dictate your well being by getting stressed out about what may or may not happen. This will ultimately allow you to get scared, and fear happens to be the mother of all complacency. You control your own destiny and if what you’re doing isn’t working, you need to figure out what will, and do it. Step your game up!
Think outside the box, use your imagination, come up with something others have not, and don’t look back. Don’t be scared to try something new and fail. Don’t worry about those haters who try and hold you down. Think about the outcome when you succeed and focus on that. Scared money won’t make money.
With this issue we’ve incorporated something new that pushes the envelope. During some feature shoots and events we will be recording video to give you a totally different perspective on the feature. Keep your eye open for the QR codes throughout the magazine and check out the bad ass videos that accompany them in the magazine.
Regardless of your profession, there is someone just as smart, talented, and driven as you are who will probably work for less, so the need for Kaizen or “constant improvement” is a necessity. Continue to progress in your field, learn more skills, and diversify your investments. Step your game up! Continue to set goals and achieve them. Don’t get complacent with how well your business is doing. As the world evolves, so do your customers and so does the industry. Whatever worked in the past may not work now so re-evaluate your business, your industry, and your competition. You have to sustain a competitive advantage and outperform your competitors through differentiation, cost, and/or value. Progression, not regression.
In the end, it is up to you to get what you want in life. The path may not be quick or easy but anything worth doing isn’t. Along the way you’re sure to get those who try and hold you down. A young girl once told me…”Haters make you famous.” Work hard, reap the rewards life has to offer, and continue to step your game up.
